“Hi all, I’m Freya and I’m one of the Project Coordinators for the Fair4All Card.
My main role in the team is to manage the application process. This includes keeping forms up to date, emailing and responding to applicants, processing applications, and creating the cards themselves.
There is no standard day for me, as every day is different. This is part of what makes the role so fulfilling, as I am always kept on my feet by the work. Looking at an average week however, I have weekly team meetings with the rest of the team, as well as one-to-one catch-ups throughout the week. One week I may be having strategy meetings for the project, the next I may be spending hours processing applications, and emailing applicants. I usually spend some time updating the website, and reviewing amazing social media graphics created by Cary, before they are published, as well as creating the odd one or two myself.
Back in August 2020, I had been volunteering with BuDS as a project volunteer for a few months, and was just moving onto a new project – the Fair4All Card. I approached Cary with the ideas in my head, and we sat down and created the first initial plan. What followed was months of hard work, late nights and long meetings, where we worked together to create the project as it stands today. A labour of love that I am really proud of.
I wanted to set the scheme up because, as a disabled person myself, I know just how difficult it can be to get the reasonable adjustments I need, as even the asking can be difficult. I am incredibly proud of myself and my team beside me, who have worked so hard for the last year and a half to get the scheme to where it is today. And we’re not done yet…”
As Freya said, we have a lot more exciting things on the way so keep an eye out over the next few weeks for a big announcement about something we’ve been working on behind the scenes. Make sure you follow us on our social media’s to never miss an update!
