Parents/carers can apply for a Fair4All Card on behalf of someone else, as long as you are able to gain proper consent from them as we do need medical evidence for the exemptions and adjustments being requested.

What Happens Next?

After you have sent us your form, we will review your application. BuDS includes a wide range of people who are experts in disability, and we will use our expertise to assess you against the legal criteria in the Equality Act 2010 and the Coronavirus Regulations 2019-2020. This will help us to decide the reasonable adjustments or exemptions you are legally entitled to.

Because of the size of the card, we may not be able to fit all of your requested reasonable adjustments or exemptions in the way that they appear on the form. However, please don’t let that stop you from asking for what you need. We work hard to make sure the card matches your expectations and needs and we include you in every step of your application.

If you are successful in your application, BuDS will contact you to request further details and to provide you with a post-approval letter.

  • We will confirm your postal address and also ask for a photo of you (or the card-holder if you are applying on behalf of someone else).
  • The post-approval letter is a PDF letter that can be used until you receive your Fair4All Card in the post. It will expire after one month, but if you have not received your card by the time the letter expires, please email us and we will renew the letter for you and update you on the progress of your card.

If we can’t issue you with a card or can’t agree about the adjustments and exemptions in your application, there is a formal appeal process. Your appeal will be reviewed by different people within BuDS and a designated trustee.

BuDS aims to keep the application process as fair and unbiased as possible. As a result, your application and/or appeal will not be reviewed by anyone who knows you personally.
